Casestudy Of A Publishing House

The publishing company I have chose to analyse is Natmags.


Natmags or otherwise known as the National Magazine Company is a British magazine publisher that is based in London. Established in 1910 by William Randolph Hearst, Natmags is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hearst Corporation, an US group which is one of the "largest diversified communications companies." Alongside publications, in the year of 2006, Natmags expanded in to digital media by purchasing and publishing womens' website Handbag.com and by launching its very own digital network (Hearst Digital).

Hearst Corporation is one of the world's largest publishers of monthly magazines, with 16 US titles and 97 international editions distributed in more than 100 countries.

Although the Hearst Corporation has various other businesses, Natmags being their principal business in the UK, is one of the UK’s leading media companies with over 20 brand platforms. Publishing around 19 magazines in total that all range in content, from fashion to lifestyle and health, Natmag's portfolio includes world famous brands that are all well known within their chosen genre such as women’s glossy Cosmopolitan, market leader Men’s Health, and also Good Housekeeping which is all accessible via various multi-platforms including print, online, mobile and social media.

Through their brands Natmags reaches more than 20 million adults every year. Catering for over 14m readers (14.7 million UK adults every year), Natmags is now celebrating 100 years of "editorial excellence".
With an recent report recording results from the July – December 2010 period with a number of increases shown throughout the brands.

As stated on their own website "Nobody knows women like Natmags" with 1 in every 2 ABC1 women reading a NatMag magazine, they reach 10.6 million women.


With 8m monthly unique browsers and 46m page impressions Natmags allow the chance for advertisers to promote their products in one of the most trusted mediums of Natmags Publishing Company.
